Arriving in Rome, or Roma as the locals call, is what I imagine being caught in a tornado feels like. You’re thrown straight from driving on the autostrade which is very smooth flowing and relaxed to suddenly being surrounded by cars, trucks, scooters, all rushing by you or coming straight at you, horns blaring, pedestrians
We are staying in the tower fort of a castle in a village in Tuscany for the next three days. We actually have the whole village to ourselves as its undergoing restoration so no one lives here as yet – absolute peace and quiet. The fort was built approximately a thousand years ago in the
Just a quick post – we made it and had a beautiful pasta lunch with ice cold white wine overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, a quick stop on our way to our next few nights accommodation in Tuscany.
Spoiled for space
I didn’t appreciate how much living space we have in Australia until travelling over here. We have plenty of yard space, particularly if you live in a country area as we do but not only that, our bathroom spaces are huge compared to here. In Paris we had a little bathroom – if you moved
For those of you that know me, you know that espresso is something that I simply never want to live without! Paris, France, as much as I love you, and as much as I love the multitudes of things you do so well, I am sad to say that espresso is not one of your

They have locks all through the canals and rivers which in their simplest terms, allow you to pass through from one level of water to the other. They are a short spanned dock
The next town on our French canal trip. A great little cafe in the side street and thought I’d post before we open the second bottle of wine over our very French Croque Monsour – calories calories calories!! Great to be joined by the cafe owner, good practise for my French!
The pavements in Paris are completely fascinating! Each one has a different story to tell. Even the back streets of little villages that look like simple paths are made from gravel from buildings from the 1700’s that have crumbled. And that last paragraph was a load of rubbish – they are just cement, my toes
We’ve been on the boat cruising the French canals and the River Saone for a few days now and have quite a few posts to catch up on! Gergy is where we moored last night, a little village on the Saone in the region of Bourgogne in eastern France. A short walk past the vibrant green
